Family Planning Services

The Bullitt County Health Department (BCHD) would first like to take this time to sincerely thank all of those individuals that have entrusted us with their family planning care over the years. We greatly appreciate our community.

The past 10 years have brought about significant changes in the accessibility of health care coverage. Because of these changes, the BCHD has seen a significant decline in the demand for family planning and cancer screening services on site. Over the last few years, we have gone from seeing patient’s twice a week, to bi-weekly, to now once a month, and sometimes skipping a month due to the lack of demand. In addition to a decrease in family planning appointments, we are now also faced with being unable to secure contracts for any needed follow-up care for family planning clients. While we are sad to announce that this will necessitate an end to many of the family planning services within our building, we want to ensure community residents have options for care right here in our own county and surrounding counties.

We will happily work with anyone seeking a new provider for family planning services to make this change as seamless as possible. We will continue to provide pregnancy testing and STI (sexually transmitted infection) assessment.
