HANDS: What is the HANDS Program?
The Health Access Nurturing Development Services (HANDS) program is a free voluntary home visitation program for new and expectant parents. Families begin by meeting with a HANDS Parent Visitor who will discuss any questions or concerns about pregnancy or a baby's first years. Based on the discussion, all families will receive information and learn about resources available in the community for new parents. Some families will receive further support through home visitation. That’s right, information brought right to the home.
Who Can Participate?
Pregnant moms and/or expecting dads and families with babies under 3 months old, who reside in Bullitt County, KY can participate. If a family adopts a baby before baby is 3 months old, they can participate.

I chose HANDS because I wanted to do something different with my youngest and HANDS has helped so much with that. When I had my twins, I was a first-time mom, and I didn't know anything. I stayed home with my twins 24/7 and I didn't interact with them like I should. When I had my youngest, I didn't want to do what I did with the twins. I wanted to be a better mother, so I chose HANDS and it helped so much. Not only does it help with my youngest, it also helps with my twins. I have learned so much and grew closer with all three of my kids. I would 100% recommend HANDS to everyone. With me being a single, working mom I forget this and that and sometimes I don’t know what to do, but HANDS has helped me to help my baby reach his milestones. HANDS is a great program.
Autumn Earley, Mom of 3, HANDS Participant
“We started the HANDS program when my first daughter was around one month old. She will be 2 in March! We also enrolled my youngest son, who will be 1 in April. This program has given us confidence as parents that everyone should have. The support is unmatched. We have learned so much about development, activities that are age appropriate to help meet milestones, proper childproofing, and emotional support. The activities and ASQs really helped us the most. It is Sad that Claire is graduating, but glad to have another year left with Noah! Thank you for everything!”
Karlee Sparkman, Mom of Claire and Noah
We don’t just like HANDS We LOVE the Hands program! My kids get so excited when we have our weekly meetings with Mrs.Ida!! And the relationships that you build with everyone through hands are truly life-lasting ones!!! You start to feel like family and by the end of your time with hands you feel like you have been with a longtime friend!!
I am in early childhood education myself and I still learn so many new things about the early years of children!!! Along with many different ways to go about learning and helping your child grow! I love that you get materials to help you and your family learn to handle or deal with your child’s behavior, emotions, ways to communicate, and much, much more!!
My two boys absolutely love the games that we play and all of the fun activities we get to do!!! My all-time favorite thing is watching my boys apply what we have been learning through HANDS into their daily lives and routines. It’s like that AHA moment and as a parent to sit back and watch your children apply what they have been learning and doing is such an incredible feeling!
Why Hands? Well, why not HANDS!! I have never been a part of a program that is so dedicated to helping not just the child but the whole family! They truly hold your whole family with the best interest at heart and in helping you all to grow, learn, and have resources available to you for whatever the need may be. HANDS truly goes above and beyond to do whatever they can to help support you as a parent and a family as a whole.
I would 10/10 highly recommend the HANDS program to everyone!!!!
