Health Educator III

The Bullitt County Health Department is accepting applications for a full time Health Educator III.

General Duties include: This position serves under limited direction of the Health Education Director or Health Education Coordinator.  Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Provide services with a high level of awareness according to the guidelines set by the Core Clinical Service Guide (CCSG) /Administrative Reference (AR).  Compile and participate in analysis of statistical information for health program needs.  Select, develop, evaluate and utilize health information for the public relative to the specialized program and distribute health education materials.  Establish working relations with the community and school systems to organize, teach and facilitate present appropriate aspects of health education under limited supervision.  Utilize appropriate educational methods and materials, determine contracts with and write public service announcement for newspaper, TV and radio.  Develop and facilitate that educational information and materials are up to date.  Demonstrate an understanding of cultural competency.  Participate as a team member and refer to supervisor as needed.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Bachelor Degree and three (3) years of health related or education experience.

Substitution for Education: Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in health or human services fields will substitute for experience required (2 years for Master’s & 1 year for Bachelor’s).  A professional license in the health or human services fields will substitute for an additional year of experience.

Starting Salary: $22.81-28.36/hr negotiable with additional experience. Grade 19

General Duties include: This position serves under the limited direction of the Health Education Director or Health Education Coordinator.  Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Perform work of considerable difficulty within the Local Health Department by planning and implementing a comprehensive public health education program for staff, individuals, groups, and communities in order to promote healthy lifestyle choices and to reduce health risks.  Participate in the health education evaluation process, communicate effectively; include documentation, recordkeeping, and correspondence.  With minimal guidance select, develop, utilize, teach, distribute, and evaluate health education curriculum materials to the public.  Utilize appropriate educational methods and materials, determine contracts with and write public service announcements for newspaper, TV and radio.  Participate as a team member.  Demonstrate a working level of understanding cultural competency and may serve as working supervisor.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Bachelor Degree and two (2) years of health related or education experience.

Substitution for Education: Masters Degree or Bachelor Degree in health or human services fields will substitute for one (1) year experience required.  A professional license in the health or human services field will substitute for an additional year of experience.

Starting Salary: $20.30-25.24/hr negotiable with additional experience. Grade 17

Health Educator I

The Bullitt County Health Department is accepting applications for a full time Health Educator I.

General Duties include: This position serves under the direction of the Health Education Director.  Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Attend orientation sessions to develop an understanding of the role of the clinic in health assessment problems.  Meet with members of the community to establish a working relationship and become familiar with available community resources.  Assist in exchanging information with various organizations and agencies concerning health needs of the community and assist in assembling materials to be utilized.  Gather health information for the public relative to the specialized program.  Distribute health education materials by a variety of methods.  Provide services according to the guidelines set by the Core Clinical Service Guide (CCSG) /Administrative Reference (AR).  Participate as a team member, having a basic understanding of the team process.  Demonstrate an awareness of public service announcements (PSA) and assist in writing public service announcements for radio and television.  Submit written material to assigned supervisor for approval.  Determine working contacts with radio, TV and newspaper personnel.  Collect and analyze data for health program needs.

Starting Salary: $18.07-22.46/hr negotiable with additional experience. Grade 15
